SUPER BOWL HALF-TIME SHOW

SUPER BOWL HALF-TIME SHOW- BAD BUNNY VS. TURNING POINT USA SUPER BOWL SHOW

Which show did you choose to watch? Honestly, no judgment.

First of all, I will mention that our house watched both shows to compare as I am sure many people watching the Super Bowl did the same.

This was honestly a tough one in our house. The Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show clearly appealed more to the younger crowd, while the older group preferred the singers and message behind TPUSA’s show. I don’t want to get political, but I will say that I am a Republican and I stand with Charlie Kirk. That’s all I’m going to say on that—I’m not interested in debating it.

That said, I think it’s fair to talk about both performances—the good and the not-so-good—because both had strengths and weaknesses.

TPUSA

I was genuinely happy to watch the TPUSA show, largely because of the Christian values it promoted. The singing was beautiful, and that was something I truly appreciated. I was a bit disappointed that some of the “promised” performers didn’t appear, but overall, as someone who loves country music, I thought TPUSA did a great job portraying the All-American dream.

Kid Rock did not disappoint, and everything was done in a very professional way. However, I’m going to be honest—it was a little boring. It was mostly just people singing, without much of a performance element. Everyone in our group agreed that while we enjoyed watching it, it felt like something we might have watched at any other time. Some people were also upset that TPUSA chose to hold their performance during the Super Bowl.

I think the issue is that people have very high expectations when it comes to Super Bowl halftime shows. Think about it—does anyone not remember the performances by Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Eminem, Katy Perry, or Michael Jackson? Those were once-in-a-lifetime performances. Unfortunately, TPUSA didn’t compare in that way. There was no real storyline or dynamic performance—it was simply singers on a stage. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but when it’s the Super Bowl, expectations are incredibly high.

Bad Bunny

Before watching Bad Bunny’s performance, I actually had to look up who he was and listen to a few of his songs. I wasn’t a huge fan and didn’t expect to enjoy the show. Of course, my children all knew exactly who he was. From what I saw, he didn’t come across as very patriotic, which was already a mark against him in my book.

I also didn’t understand anything he was saying, which, honestly, felt a little disrespectful to me. He was performing for America, and I personally think singing in English would have been more appropriate.

That said, when it comes strictly to the performance itself, it was something completely different. While it wasn’t patriotic, it was exciting, creative, and full of energy. The attention to detail was impressive, and it was clear that a lot of effort went into making the halftime show visually entertaining. Even though it wasn’t for me musically, I can admit that it was fun and engaging to watch.

So. Whether you chose The Actual Super Bowl Half-Time Show or the Turning Point USA Half-Time Show, it wasn’t a competition. I hope that by choosing one or the other that it didn’t cause any strife in your household because when it all comes down to it both shows were fire.
